Christian Doctrine

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. II Timothy 3:16,17

What is doctrine?   One definition of doctrine is that it is that set of beliefs that is accepted by a body of believers or adherents to a philosophy or school. Insofar as Christianity is concerned, then, doctrine is the set of scriptures accepted by Christians, and that being the textus receptus scripture which dates back to the Apostles of Jesus Christ. When the Book of Revelation was penned, this closed the doctrine which was accepted both by God and by Christians to be the doctrine of the Christian faith, and is not to be added to nor subtracted from (Revelation 22:18,19). Any other writings which purport to be spiritual fall under the category (on this site) of being dogma, and not scriptural in content, since such was not, nor ever has been, accepted by born-again believers and by God Himself as being the true Word of God. On this site, heresy will be defined as any dogma belief which purports to be spiritual in nature that, by definition, contradicts true Christian doctrine. A condensed explanation of the textus receptus scriptures is given in The Bible and the NIV.

Doctrinal Position of tcl      For English-speaking people, the King James 1611 translation is taken to be the inspired Holy Word of God, as faithfully translated from copies of extant Old Testament Hebrew and New Testament Greek manuscripts (textus receptus) by the 47 translators commissioned by King James in 1604.  Books translated from corrupt manuscripts, such as the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, are not considered to be the Word of God on this site.  Please see THE Bible and the NIV.

Spiritual Baptism of the Holy Spirit       Salvation has always been granted by God to an individual who has put his faith and trust in what God has revealed that he must do to be saved.  Thus, salvation for a lost sinner today is the same as it was clear back to Abel [Hebrews 11:4].  Secondly, no one can be saved without the blood of Christ being applied to his/her sins.  This applies even to Abel, for Abel and all others whom God has deemed to be righteous throughout the ages are saved through the blood of Christ.  This Act of Eternal Redemption is explained in SIN, THE LAW, AND THE BLOOD.  See also ON BAPTISM.

The Lord's Supper     The elements of the Lord's Supper (fruit-of-the-vine juice and unleavened bread) are symbolic of the blood and body of Christ, and are not taken to be literal, for this would constitute cannibalism.   tcl’s doctrinal position on the Lord's Supper is given in  ON EASTER.

The Trinity    Undoubtedly and without question this is the greatest mystery that mankind has wrestled with throughout history.  As Christians, we accept the Trinity as clearly manifested throughout the Bible as consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, one God manifested in three persons, God the Son having come in the flesh as Jesus the Christ as proclaimed in the first chapter of the Book of John, I John 5:7 and in Acts 7:55,56.   I present my understanding of the Trinity in  THE NATURE OF GOD.

Rapture of the Church     The scriptures suggest, according to the Parable of the Fig Tree, that Christ's return for His church (the Rapture) is imminent.  Please see  THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH .

The 7-Year Tribulation Period    MYSTERY BABYLON AND THE TWO BEASTS covers some basic questions about the tribulation period.

The Great White Throne Judgment      This takes place after Christ's millennial rule on Earth as King of kings and Lord of lords and is partially explained in THE LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE.  Essentially, this judgment will be the formal sentencing of all the lost since the beginning of creation until Satan's defeat at the end of Christ's millennial rule on Earth.  After this judgment God will create a New Heaven and a New Earth to serve as believers' eternal dwelling places.  Any and all questions regarding information on this site will be considered and answered according to biblical tenets.  May God bless you for your interest in spiritual matters.
